Teams typically hold open tryouts in December/January for Spring/Summer A level teams, and in August for Fall teams. In accordance with ASA guidelines, ASA B teams form and begin play after May 1st. B level players must have played in the Davis Youth Softball Association Spring Recreation season. It is not unusual for a DYSA All-Star team to continue playing as an ASA B team during the summer and fall.

The Lady Demons co-sponsor a softball skills clinic in late January with DYSA. Practices are typically held at Community Park in Davis on Field B or Field A, depending on availablility.
